How Our Network Vision Began

When NDB Holding Group was still a young and close-knit firm decades ago, its early leaders could personally recognize every team member — and even most former employees — by name.

“Today,” says Senior Director Omar Rahmani, co-lead of our Community Development & Alumni Relations, “that level of personal familiarity isn’t realistic anymore.”

As NDB Holding Group enters a new era of global expansion, our community of former and current colleagues has grown to more than 70,000 professionals worldwide.

His fellow co-leader, Senior Director Lina Farouq, adds:
“With this growth comes incredible strength — but also complexity. People want to reconnect with those who share similar experience, expertise, industries, regions, and goals. We wanted to make that easier.”

That idea took shape when an NDB alum proposed a data-driven networking platform — designed to help people find one another based on shared backgrounds and interests.

After a successful pilot phase led by our European hub, the NDB Global Network Platform is now officially available worldwide.

For years, NDB has hosted events, created learning opportunities, shared tailored updates, and provided professional support.
The new Network Platform expands on this — enabling deeper, more personal connections.

Lina adds:
“What makes this platform special is that it connects both current team members and alumni. It fuels collaboration across generations, sectors, and geographies.”

We sat down with Omar and Lina to learn more about how the platform works — and how to make the most of it.

What We Learned From the Pilot Launch

Omar:
“We were thrilled by the response. The pilot began with a small segment of our alumni in Europe — now one of our largest communities — and quickly expanded. We already have over 5,000 active users.”

Lina:
“What surprised us most was how quickly momentum grew organically. People added their former teammates, created interest groups, shared book lists, exchanged opportunities, and even scheduled casual coffee meetups.”

With more users joining and new features rolling out, the NDB Global Network will only continue to strengthen.

What Can Members Expect Inside the Platform?

Lina explains:
“The interface feels familiar and is built on a private, secure system. Users can sync their profiles, discover networking suggestions, and get matched with people they’ve worked with before.”

Profiles are pre-connected using past project teams, training programs, and shared work histories.
Members can also run targeted searches, join groups, or create their own.

“The goal is simple,” she says.
“A more connected, interactive, and resourceful NDB community.”

Tips for Reaching Out to Others

Lina:
“I usually click ‘Connect’ as an introduction, then follow up with a message referencing our shared interests or background.”

Omar:
“I often say something like, ‘I came across your profile on the NDB Network — great to reconnect.’”

While traveling, many use the platform to reconnect with colleagues in the same city — for advice, recommendations, or conversations over coffee.

Both note that alumni are especially supportive during career transitions — because everyone understands the value of mentorship and shared experience.

How We Hope People Will Use the Platform

Lina:
“At the simplest level, it helps us stay in touch with those who shaped key periods of our careers. But it also serves as a collective brain — a place to crowdsource answers, exchange insights, and collaborate.”

Omar:
“When you’re inside the company, it’s easy to forget how much expertise surrounds you. Alumni often tell us that once they leave, they’re not always sure who to reach out to. The platform solves that.”

The goal is to keep the NDB family connected — even when direct business engagement isn’t the right fit.

How Alumni Influence Our Work

Omar:
“Our alumni are constant sources of inspiration. I often call former colleagues to see what they’re building, what challenges they’re solving, and what they’re experimenting with.”

Many alumni were also collaborators on early NDB projects — people who shaped careers and helped build the company’s culture.

“There’s nothing more rewarding,” Omar says,
“than seeing a former teammate become a CEO, financial leader, or industry expert.”

“This community has given so much to NDB. We’re committed to supporting them in return. This platform helps us continue that mission.”

Lina:
“It’s a major step toward replacing our old directory with a smarter, more dynamic networking tool. Our aim is simple: bring the NDB family closer together and unlock the full potential of our global community.”
